For every single type of cancer – even the rarest – there is someone
who has survived and thrived!
Cancer is Just a Word! It is not a Sentence!
For every patient who has taken conventional treatment, there is a
patient who has pursued some form of alternative treatment.
There is a way you can go from victim to victor!
How many of you have had a cancer diagnosis yourself or know someone who
has? It seems nearly
every one of us knows someone who has been touched with cancer.
It might be a friend, neighbor, relative, or co-worker, or
perhaps even yourself.
Given the statistics, it is no wonder:
The lifetime cancer rate has now reached one in two Americans and
two out of three American families.
Over
one million persons will be diagnosed with cancer this year, and within
five years 500,000 of those already diagnosed will have died.
Hello, I am Susan Silberstein, PhD, Executive Director of the Center for Advancement in Cancer Education. I founded this organization in October of 1977, after the death of my young husband to cancer. In conjunction with my work at the cancer center, I have authored the recipe book Hungry for Health, am the editor of Immune Perspectives magazine, creator of the video, Breast Cancer: The Diet Connection, and originator of Philadelphia’s annual “Food & Health Expo.” I speak nationally on nutrition, cancer prevention, and complementary and alternative medicine. I frequently lecture for medical and nursing schools, continuing oncology nursing education programs, universities, corporations, and other organizations. Since 1977, I have appeared on scores of radio and television talk shows, coordinated hundreds of health conferences, and have counseled thousands of patients. For several years, I taught the psychology of health and disease in the Graduate Division of Counseling Psychology at Immaculata University and served as Director of the Integrative Program for Cancer Prevention at the Newtown Medical Center. I frequently contribute as a writer and interviewee for various health publications, and am featured in Rutgers University Press’s Evaluating Alternative Cancer Therapies.
Three decades ago, statistics like these were very foreign to me. I had barely heard the term cancer, and I didn’t know what the word “chemotherapy” meant. Then in January of 1976 my whole world came crashing down on me with two simultaneous medical diagnoses:
I was pregnant with my second child, and my 30-year old husband had
terminal cancer. It was a
very rare cancer, there were no known treatment protocols, and he would
be dead within a year, no matter what they tried – and try they did. But
I was a researcher, so research I did!
While my husband was undergoing a grueling year of seven surgeries and
the maximum chemotherapy and radiation his body could tolerate, I was in
the medical libraries doing research and calling medical centers and
doctors all over the country, Canada, Mexico and Europe.
I uncovered a lot of very promising resources, but none in time to help
my husband, who never got out of the hospital long enough to try
anything. He died on
schedule in February of 1977.
He left me with two babies, a broken heart, and a burning desire to make
a difference. I was
determined not to bury with him everything I had learned.
I was committed to making lemonade out of lemons.
I was compelled to help at least one family avoid the tragedy
that mine had to endure.
Over the last three decades, I have been privileged to realize that
dream thousands of times over!
I have shared my information with thousands of cancer patients
and their families – and now I want to share it with you.
On information overload? Overwhelmed with too many choices? Stuck in
analysis paralysis? With so much confusing and conflicting information
out there, how do you choose? Based on 30 years of experience with
nearly 30,000 patients, the resources in the
Beat Cancer Tool Kit can help simplify the decision-making process by providing guidance on the systems that have produced the best
results for the most patients over the longest period of time!
If you search the internet for
alternative cancer therapies, you will find nearly
5 million records!
To get through all that information would take several lifetimes! For
many patients, making the wrong choice could be a life or death
decision.
Beat Cancer Tool Kit
Provides the knowledge you need to
make wise choices and help you design your own game plan that is
protective of all your precious resources.
Did you know that the
word cancer is not even really a noun –
it’s a verb! It’s not a thing – it’s an action. What we see as the tumor is only the symptom of the cancer.
If we only treat that, we are missing the big picture.
What is really important is changing the underlying
process that
allowed the cancer to develop in the first place. And every lifestyle and treatment choice we make can move us
closer to or farther away from the disease. The
Beat Cancer Tool Kit will help guide you in understanding
those processes and put you on the right path!
There are so many non-toxic treatments that are currently available for
cancer patients. But the best treatment of all is education and
knowledge. The
Beat Cancer Tool Kit provides empowering, life-changing and
potentially life-saving information! Get it now and find your own
path to good health.
Most cancer treatments only address the tumor – and if the tumor is gone
the patient is supposedly cured.
Unfortunately, there are too many cases
of “the
tumor’s gone but the patient died.”
My young husband was one of them. At the time of his death, he had no detectable tumor. He died of a heart attack caused by a chemotherapy drug that was
toxic to his heart. In the
cancer record books, he is a cure statistic. In my heart, he is the tragedy that fuels my fire!
And quality of life? He had none. He couldn’t walk and he didn’t have the strength to hold his
babies. He was ravaged by the side effects of chemo and radiation. He couldn’t eat for months, and when he died he weighed only 60
pounds. I talk to cancer
patients all the time, and quality of life is most often what is missing
for them.
Reclaim your power!
The minute a person is diagnosed with cancer, he or she seems to lose
the power to choose: You have to put up with such and such a treatment
and such and such side effects and such and such quality of life, and
you have to make that commitment immediately before you have had a
chance to review your options! Did you know that many people with cancer have had malignant cells growing in their body for 10 to 20 years before their doctors can detect cancer?
Did you know that dozens of experts declare there has been no real progress in the war against cancer since it was officially declared by President Nixon in 1971?
conventional oncological
approaches.
Dr. John Bailar (New England
Journal of Medicine 1986 and again in 1997) has stated that
we are
losing the war on cancer.
Dr. Devra Davis (The Secret
History of the War Against Cancer) says we have been fighting the
wrong war with the wrong weapons and expecting the wrong results.
Dr. Ulrich Abel, Dr. Graham Morgan, Dr. Ralph Moss and Dr. Guy Faguet
have written about the severe limitations of chemotherapy.
The Director of the
National Cancer Institute (NCI) has stated that “complementary and
alternative medicine (CAM) for cancer treatment is well worth
investigating.” The Office of Alternative Medicine (OAM), the NCI, and
major cancer centers have been collaborating on some promising
immune-boosting research projects. But
research takes time. A lot of time.
And in the
meanwhile, many cancer patients are losing their lives waiting for
information that is actually already available!
Learn the most important criteria for evaluating the complex field of
alternative and complementary cancer therapies.

treatments, this kit is for you!
Orthodox medicine in the United States – while unparalleled in its ability to offer state-of-the-art diagnostics, acute and emergency care, and technological excellence – has been largely inadequate in cases of chronic, degenerative, and non-specific disease conditions.
Recently,
there has been a great interest among healthcare consumers and
practitioners alike in holistic, complementary and integrative medicine,
in which patient participation is key. At the same time, much research
has been published worldwide on the role of clinical nutrition,
behavioral medicine and lifestyle modification in addressing illness.
Unfortunately, today's cancer patients suffer from more than cancer; they suffer from a syndrome called "information overload." Most patients are simply overwhelmed by the often confusing and contradictory cancer information provided by the broadcast and print media, the internet, conflicting medical opinions, and well-meaning friends, neighbors and relatives.
As a result, they either give up their participatory role to the first oncologic opinion they encounter, or they end up researching themselves into completely ineffective "analysis paralysis."
The
Beat Cancer Tool Kit has resources to help patients negotiate the maze of
available therapeutic options. The kit provides information on
nutrition, botanical medicine, psychoneuroimmunology, and other
innovative approaches. It provides guidance for accessing
immune-enhancing programs to help prevent recurrence, non-toxic
biological therapies to repair compromised body function, and creative
ways to manage the side effects of conventional cancer treatments.
